Carrollton, GA – The Inaugural ARAMARK Wolves Kickoff Classic was an enormous
success for the West Georgia Athletic Department Monday, as 33 teams played in the first annual golf tournament at Oak Mountain Championship Golf Club.
“This is a wonderful event for us to close out the summer and kickoff the new year,” said Athletic Director
Daryl Dickey. “We have had caravans all over Georgia throughout the summer, but we wanted to make the Carrollton event the biggest.”
Players were treated to food stations from various sponsors around the course, enjoying Prime Rib
Pasta from O’Charley’s,
pizza from Papa-John’s, nuggets from Chick-Fil-A and barbecue sandwiches from Shane’s Rib Shack.
The winners of the 2010 ARAMARK Wolves Kickoff Classic were the foursome of Wall, Powers, Lipscomb and Shoemaker, with second place going to the team of Duncan, Thomas, Underwood and Demore. Third place went to the team of Wentz, Shoop, Calhoun and Richards.
Following the tournament, the players were treated to a catered meal from ARAMARK, with one contestant,
Robby Fite, getting a shot at a Million Dollar Hole-In-One. From 165 yards out on the 18th hole, Fite drilled a beautiful six-iron and came close, with the shot hitting the pin and coming to a stop just a few feet from the hole.
The event was the final one of the summer, with the next event schedule being the First Annual Running with the Wolves on August 21 at University Stadium where fans will be able to meet and greet the 2010-11 teams.
